MINUTES OF THE AMERICAN LEGION

Following the formal opening ceremonies, Pasha Hadidi (one of our representatives to Boy’s State spoke to the membership.  He relayed some of his experiences and thanked the Post for helping him have the experience.

 

New member Sam Stiles was introduced to the membership by Dan Bedell.

 

Kathy Boatwright spoke to the membership thanking us for our support with the donation in providing school supplies to those students who otherwise would be unable to have them.

 

Outgoing Commander Joe Ward spoke & gave his thanks to the Building Comm. for all the time & effort with the new Post building.  He especially thanked Tip Tippett and Tom Bartolomuci for their tremendous help.  And with that presented them with satin legion jackets.

 

Yvonne Dickerson the Jr vice Comm. for the 4th Division presided over the installation of the 2004-2005 slate of officers for Post 759.

 

New Comm. Davis presented outgoing Comm. Ward with thank you gifts for his years of service to the Post.

 

The Adjutant & Finance Offer reports were given & approved without addition or correction.

 

Service Officer report was given.

 

Building Comm. Report.  The asbestos is gone from the rental house, the gas has been turned off and the house is scheduled to come down shortly.

 

It was announced that the annual Picnic has been canceled this year due to many factors not the least of them being scheduling problems.  In lieu of the picnic an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony is planed for the new Post Oct 9.

 

A motion was made by John Haines & 2nd by Joe Ward to have a formal Post dedication ceremony on Veteran’s Day 2004.  Motion passed with no desenting votes.

 

A motion was made by Bob Shotts & 2nd by Lee Patton to have the Post purchase a $100 ad for the VFW booklet.  Motion passed with no desenting votes.

 

Les Morgan, our representative to the Chatham Chamber of Commerce spoke on many of the Chamber’s upcoming events.

 

Thanks to Jim DeRight for coming up with a meal for the meeting at the last minute.

 

The 50/50 of $28.00 was won by Pat Schad who donated this portion back to the Building Fund.
