Following the formal opening ceremonies, Adam Hartsler, one of our representatives to Boy’s State spoke to the membership about his experiences. He was very grateful for the opportunity and thanked the membership.
Frank Blahofski introduced
transfer member Lee Morgan to the membership.
The Adjutant and Finance
Officer reports were given and approved without addition or correction.
The Service Officer report is
as follows:
George Brown has passed away/
Andy Homa had surgery for blocked arteries.
Joe Gragg’s wife has had a stroke.
Joe Davis’s wife’s brother has passed away.
Dan Freeman’s wife had a baby girl
Jeff Lopian is deployed to Iraq
John Haines reported that the
VA with monetary support from the Post has 2 new vans to transport to Peoria
& Danville.
Caroline Whitney of the
Chatham Food Pantry sent a letter asking for any monetary support the Post
could provide. A motion was made by Jim
DeRight & 2nd by Matt Allen to donate $50.00 for this
cause. Motion passed with no desenting
votes.
The Clinton IL American
Legion Post sent a letter asking for any monetary support we could provide to
be used in building their new Post. It
was decided to table any decision until we see how we stand on our new Post
after all the bills are in.
Boy Scout Troop 310 (the
troop we sponsor) reported that they would no longer be able to use the Church
facilities to hold their meetings due to construction. They are asked
permission to use our new Post one day a week and would be flexible if a rental
conflict would arise. Even though they
number only about a dozen and would be required to leave the hall as good as
they found it, the majority of the members present decided that this request be
tabled for further study.
A proposed change to the
Post’s Constitution & By Laws was given in writing to the membership for
their study (See attached proposal). The
change will be voted on at the next meeting in November.
A proposed rental agreement
was presented to the membership (See attached sample). Only the fees to be charged were requested at
the present time. It was stated that a
study way conducted by Dan Freeman on rent being charged by like facilities in
the Chatham/Springfield area. Also the
definition of member and non-member was explained. After much discussion a
motion was made by Les Morgan & 2nd by Lee Turley to accept the
prices as proposed subject to change at a later date so as to get the rental
agreement underway. Motion passed with
only one desenting vote.
There was no raffle this
month. Thank you to Jim DeRight for the
chilli.
